Tailored workwear that allows remarkable movement crafted with soft, thick Japanese cotton fabric.
When clothing doesn’t fit it can ruin your day. To allow maximum free movement we created a completely new kind of shirt. The shoulder seam spirals around the shoulder to create the most flexible motion we’ve ever felt in a button up. Handmade in Japan.
Size

Sized Small, Medium, and Large. Designed to fit various bodies and still look good. Unisex with size range from ladies’ small to mens’ large.

Please email us shop@postalco.com with your questions about size, fabric, or fit anytime.

Why do we make so few sizes?

We pattern our clothing to fit as many bodies as we can. Less size variation also means less wasted fabric and less overproduction.

Clothing for men? Or women?

Postalco items have always been non gendered. Beginning with the very first Legal Envelopes we made back in 2000.

Material

100% cotton Japan made fabric. With repeated washings it will become one of the softest items in your closet. No fillers or interfacing used in this shirt. All thickness is created with luxurious tightly woven fibers and layered fabric. This is more difficult to make but results in a shirt that will age better. We noticed this is the way 1920s vintage workwear was made and what gave those classic pieces their reliability. In natural fabrics slubs and fiber irregularities may occur. These are all characteristics unique to natural materials. Our buttons are completely unbleached and natural shell or nut. Each button is custom shaped with a unique matte texture.

Care

・Delicate machine wash 30℃ with like colors.

・Warm iron as needed, or dry clean.

・Do not bleach.

・Shade dry only, no tumble dry.

・100% cotton

・There is a small chance the color may crock or bleed, especially when wet.

FAQ

Q. What is the difference between Free Arm Shirt 01 and Free Arm Shirt Straight Fit?

A. Free Arm Shirt 01 has a box silhouette with a relaxed fit. Straight Fit is a regular cut that's less boxy than 01. The table below shows the difference in size measurements for Free Arm Shirt 01 versus straight fit.

Q. What is the difference in the fabrics?

A. Please see the map below for details. Our collection offers a variety of fabrics suitable for year-round wear, ensuring comfort in any season.

Original spiral sleeve
Ordinary shirt sleeves are essentially long tubes. When you move your arm, the typical sleeve may flex a bit but still pull at the seam, resulting in limited motion and the risk of ripping your shirt. Stretch fabrics can be used but natural cotton feels so much better. To eliminate the typical stiffness we started with sketches and prototypes made from paper (we love paper). We then worked with an expert pattern maker and craftspeople in Japan to make many samples to get the shirt we dreamed of wearing. This shirt is made in a Japanese workshop with over 40 years of experience.

Straight, relaxed fit.

Spiral shoulder
Angled pleats on back along with our original "spiral shoulder" construction for maximum movement.

Full length sleeves with two button barrel cuffs for adjustability.

Woven in Japan, this soft fabric is a tightly woven combination of smooth and textured threads creating a unique look and soft touch.

Details
・Pre washed and garment shrunk to shape for exceptional softness.
・Thick fabric will not show through.
・After dyed garments have gentle variations in color.
・Full length sleeves with two button barrel cuffs for adjustability.
